About

A photograph is usually looked at - seldom looked into. ~Ansel Adams

Hi thanks for taking the time to visit my site.
The Photographs you see on this site were captured with the following equipment,
Olympus SP550UZ 7.0 digital point and shoot but the majority with the Olympus E3 10.2 megapixel DSLR, it is used along with the following lenses - Zuiko 50mm macro, Zuiko 14 - 54mm and the Zuiko 70 - 300mm telephoto.

I truly believe there is a universal connection with all things, this idea is what lead me into photography as I was fascinated by the incredible up close details offered with today’s point an shoot cameras.
The interconnection between what is really small and existing within our environment and what we typically notice or pay attention to is quite incredible.
Flowers for example amaze me, however what is really amazing is to observe a bee pollinating the flowers something that I never paid much attention too, this is the type of photograph and connection that interests me, catching that specific moment is golden.

As I graduated from a digital point and shoot to a professional grade camera the Olympus E3, the upgrade enabled me to branch out in regards to the type of photographs I choose to take from macro, landscape, still life as well as nature shots.
The E3 with the remarkable lens choices enables the photographer to adapt to any situation to capture a variety of memories.

The photograph for me is a moment in time where the photographer creates a memory, my goal is to capture that shot for eternity as my eye sees it and the camera interprets it.

I choose not to use any computer enhancement programs the only liberty I take with the computer is to crop a picture for effect or make very minor colour adjustments.
The best way to become a better photographer is to challenge myself to perfect the use of my equipment yet trusting my eye at the same time, lighting, lens choice, aperture setting and shutter speed are all things that must be taken into account when creating your shot and these are the skills that I wish to perfect.

I hope you come back and visit this site often as I plan to add many more memories. I will be doing some nature travelling in order to get some different perspectives, Pelee Island June 6-8 of 2008 turned out to be a great adventure, this year Costa Rica is a location I am investigating and also a trip to Algonquin Park.

This poem sums up my philosophy of creating memories through photography….

Nothing Gold Can Stay

Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Robert Frost
